A clearing house of designs and SSDs for new Full Thrust miniatures from Ground Zero Games

Full Thrust rules including the supplements More Thrust and Fleet Books 1 and 2 are now available for download directly from Ground Zero Games in their Rules area. If you have printed versions of the Fleet Books, there is some errata - these items have all been corrected in the electronic pdf versions.

Since Fleet Book 2 was released in 2000, GZG has released miniatures for several new fleets plus they have released additional miniatures for the existing fleets.  While none of the designs below are 'official' until published by GZG, the designs presented on these pages are 'Authorized by Ground Zero Games for use until Official stats are published.'

These ship designs are for use with Fleet Books 1 and 2 rules along with the 'playtest' rules indicated below and this combination is sometimes referred to as Full Thrust 2.5.

GZG has posted a couple versions of FT Light, a paired down version of the game that is great for introducing people to the rules or for use at a convention.  The FT Light (B&W) version fits on a page and the FT Light (color) expands the document in color with more diagrams and examples.

Other parties have compiled rules from all the separate books along with adding some of their own rules and make them available online.  The ship designs here on the FT Fleet Resource do not use most of the changes and new systems from those compellations so these designs should be close to universal and fit right in whatever rules you are using.

Full Thrust: Remixed - Compiled rules for human ships including FB1

Full Thrust: Cross Dimensions - Compiled rules from FBs with some changes

Full Thrust: Warlords Edition - Compiled rules modified with additional systems - copy pulled from the archives as the original location is no longer online

Full Thrust: Project Continuum - Compiled and highly expanded rules

Emerald Coast Skunk Works - They have done a lot of work on updating and expanding Full Thrust so make sure you check them out.

Mechworld Miniature Gaming - The German-language contact point for topics related to Full Thrust.  They sell starter boxes and more plus they have a GUI shipyard to build your own ships.

GZG-L Mailing List Archives - If you are interested in learning more about the background and development of Full Thrust, you can go search and read the archives of the GZG-L mailing list that in its prime (late 1990's to 2000's) was full of debate and ideas on Full Thrust and the GZG universe as the Fleet Books were developed and released.

Players are encouraged to send their feedback on these designs to stats@star-ranger.com.

Fighter Groups

Point costs on ships to do not include the cost of fighters the ship can bring in its fighter bays.  When using CPVs, most of the cost of fighter bay and the hull section it is mounted in is transferred to the fighter group itself.  Here are the point costs for a group each of the standard fighter types for both NPV and CPV.

Fighter Type   NPV Group   CPV Group    Fighter Type  NPV Group  CPV Group  Mod Cost
Standard  18 (3 each) 48 (8 each)    Heavy  30 (5 each) 60 (10 each)  2pts/ftr
Attack   24 (4 each) 54 (9 each)   Fast  24 (4 each) 54 (9 each)  1pt/ftr
Interceptor  18 (3 each) 48 (8 each)    Long-Range  24 (4 each) 66 (11 each)  NPV 1pt/ftr
CPV 3pts/ftr
Torpedo  36 (6 each) 66 (11 each)

Interceptor fighter group SSDFighter Group SSDs

Pre-made small SSDs you can add to your fleet with boxes for # of fighters left and Endurance available.  The common types of fighter groups as listed above are available.  If you really really want combinations of those modifications let me know.  I might post a version of the Build-Your-Own-Fighter spreadsheet the old playtest group was playing around with so you can construct and point the long-range fast attack fighter you really need.

SSDs are available with multiple styles of fighter images plus blank ones without fighter images are there so you can paste in your own fighters if you want.

How To Use These SSDs

When you want to play a game using the ships on these pages, copy the Ship Staus Display (SSD) images for the ships going into battle and paste them on to a fleet sheet, print, then play.

For your conveniance, three different fleet sheets are available, all have Fleet Movement Charts at the bottom where you can write orders:
FTFleetSheet1500 - A gif image with the most room for multiple ship SSDs
FTFleetSheet1080 - A gif image with less room for smaller fleets
FleetSheetFT - A Word document you can paste the SSDs as floating images

New Systems

New systems and weapons have been included in some of the Beta-test fleets for testing that may show up in other fleet's designs.

AMT (Anti-Matter Torpedo) - United Nations Space Command

EMP (Electro-Magnetic Pulse) Batteries - Out-Rim Coalition

Heavy Missiles - Islamic Federation

LRPT (Long Range Pulse Torpedo) - New Israeli

Graser - United Nations Space Command

Variable Hull Rows - United Nations Space Command

Non-GZG Fleets
Other gamers have created stats for fleets of miniatures from other manufacturers that are done in a similar style without being min/maxed and fit in this universe.  Links to those pages with those stats are included here if you want to expand your universe.  Contact the designer of the specific stats on their page if you have any questions.

NEW!

 Classic Starship Miniatures

This is a new section focusing on Full Thrust stats and SSDs for some Classic Starship Minatures lines from the late 1970's to the early 1990's.  The following Miniatures are currently converted:

Starfleet Wars from Superior Models (now sold ass Galactic Knights from Monday Knight Productions)

Stardate 3000 line which is still available from Valiant Enterprises Ltd

Space Fleet, the Gothic Imperial Fleet so far from Games Workshop

In the works are fleets for the Space Squadrons: Stellardate 2998 line from Grenadier Miniatures, Galaktik Taktik from Pewtercraft, and Knight Hawks from TSR.

Federation Dreadnought

Sci-Fi Crossover

For several years I ran Sci-Fi Crossover games at GenCon using Full Thrust rules.  The intent was to get starship miniatures from your favorite shows and movies all on the table at one time.  Something that would cause people to do a double-take as they walk by and then maybe ask a question or take a picture.

I have compiled and revised most of those conversions to a single ship format that is easier to use in their own section.  Currently included are conversionss these universes:

Star Trek (Original Series and Movie eras) Federation, Klingon and a few Romulans

Star Wars (Original trilogy) Imperials and Rebels

Babylon 5 Earthforce, Minbari, Centauri, Narn and some League ships

NEW!!! Star Blazers, the animated classic. SSD's for the Earth Defense Force (EDF) ships have now appeared in this Crossover Universe - including the Space Battleship Yamato (Argo).

More universes are in the works.

Combat Point Value - CPV

Large ships in Full Thrust have an advantage over an equal mass/cost of smaller ships due to the way thresholds work.  The Combat Point Value (CPV) was developed as a more accurate combat effectiveness point value that takes ship mass into consideration.

Beta Fighter Rules

An attempt to fix the fighter imbalance in the current rules.  The results may look very complex but are not difficult to play.  Whenever (if) the 3rd edition of Full Thrust is released, its fighter rules will probably be different than this.

FB2Dplaytest.xls

This Excel Spreadsheet is available for designing Full Thrust ships and it includes playtest systems and CPV calculations.

GZG-L Mailing List Archive

A searchable archive of the GZG-L Mailing list starting in 1996 where discussion, debates, proposals and lots more happened all about Full Thrust and other GZG games.  Most 'new' ideas for Full Thrust were probably already proposed many years ago on the mailing list.
