Knight Hawks

Knight Hawks was a starship combat supplement to the Star Frontiers RPG from TSR relased back in 1983 plus it was playable as a stand alone game. Several modules were released for Star Frontiers that featured the Knight Hawks rules integrated with the RPG. 

A line of miniatures were produced for the UPF and Sather fleets and some Pirate and Privateer ships.  They were available in a few boxed sets plus some blisters of specific ships with the large ships being pretty big and really heavy.

Today you can still find some of these miniatures but they often suffer from 'lead rot' and require extra work to make presentable.  As an alternative, there are a couple different sets of 3D stl files available that you can download and then print your own minis and as many as you need to fill your fleet.  As a bonus, those stl files include some of the ship classes that were mentioned in the rules but never got an official miniature.

 

The Sather Fleet Background "Almost nothing is known about theSathar. They have tried to kill every alien creature they have met in the Frontier, usually with alarming success. No one knows why the Sathar attack so viciously or what they hope to gain. All attempts to contact the Sathar peacefully have failed. The Sathar have never surrendered to any members of the UPF. Once, in fact, a disabled Sathar destroyer was approached by a UPF frigate with intent to board. As the frigate pulled alongside the Sathar ship, the destroyer exploded with a force that completely destroyed the UPF ship. It has since become standard procedure to bombard crippled Sathar ships from a distance, without attempting to board. The Sathar attack with incredible ferocity, but this does not mean that they use no tactical maneuvering in space battles. In fact, the mysterious race is famed for devious cunning and extreme unpredictability in battle. Feints, bluffs, and diversions have all been used to great effect by the Sathar at one time or another. In the Knight Hawks rules and supplements, often a ship was given different stats from one mention to another.  To reflect that some hulls will have more than one SSD to show the alternate stats.
